I can’t remember where I heard the following quote, but I totally agree:
It’s easier to build a child than repair an adult.
Let’s play with this quote a moment. Might the following be true:
It’s easier to prevent a stroke than repair its damage.
From my perspective, I say, YES, it is most definitely easier (and much less stressful and painful) to prevent a stroke than repair its damage.
According to the National Stroke Association, 80% of all strokes can be prevented. To reduce your risk consider the following actions steps:
- Know your blood pressure
- Stop smoking
- Control alcohol use
- Know your cholesterol levels
- Control diabetes
- Eat healthy food
- Exercise
- Treat circulation problems
- If you have symptoms of a Transient Ischemic Attack (TIA) get medical care immediately.
