QuestionWho could possibly explain the process of stroke better than a brain scientist?

Answer A stroke surviving brain scientist.

Jill Bolte Taylor shares her story in the book, My Stroke of Insight: A Brain Scientist’s Personal Journey. I’ve read this book twice, and with each reading comes a better understanding of my Ronnie’s stroke and what he went through one morning in Dec. of 1996.

If you are a visual learner, like myself, you may prefer to watch a video of Jill talking about her stroke.  The video, courtesy of TED, a nonprofit devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading, is 18 minutes long but well worth the investment of time.

See artist Lisa Nelson’s amazing graphic recording of Jill’s speech.

Jill says we are “the life-force power of the universe, with manual dexterity and two cognitive minds. And we have the power to choose moment by moment who and how we want to be in the world.”

What are you doing to be who and how you want to be?
